Too Big to Fail?
Some people argue that certain financial conglomerates are too big to fail. This is in part the justification for the Wall Street Bailout. If these financial conglomerates are too big to fail then they are too big period. They must be made smaller either as a condition to accepting any other bailout money or through legislation and/or regulation.
Banks need to get back to what they are good at: accepting deposits and making loans. The mortgage industry needs to be simplified and “de-securitized”.
